HYUNDAI VELOSTER WINS 2011 GOOD DESIGN AWARD
The all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster earned a GOOD DESIGN™ Award in the Transportation category for its innovative and unique three-door design. The GOOD DESIGN Awards are presented annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Founded in Chicago in 1950, GOOD DESIGN bestows international recognition upon the world's most prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary, and innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered ordinary product and consumer design.
Hyundai’s Veloster continues to grab consumer attention and media headlines from experts both inside and outside the automotive industry. For 2011, The GOOD DESIGN Awards were judged at the American Institute of Architects in Los Angeles by an international jury of design professionals, architects, experts, and cultural leaders.
“With Veloster, we want to show consumers that high style, fuel efficiency and affordable pricing can all be found in one vehicle,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Veloster stands out from the crowd with a stylish yet functional design. We’re honored that GOOD DESIGN is recognizing the beautiful design and unique personality of the car.”
Veloster’s cutting edge integration of the third-door combined with a breakthrough design inspired by a high-performance sport bike allows Veloster to stand-out from its competition and makes a bold statement about Hyundai’s commitment to innovative design. Distinctive black A-pillars give the glass a motorcycle helmet visor appearance and in the front is an aggressive form of Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille and unique Hyundai-signature LED position lights. Veloster’s dynamic rear design has a distinctive glass hatch, dual centered chrome exhaust tips and black lower fascia that complement the assertive front fascia. Inside, the center stack and controls resemble a sport bike fuel tank and the air vents are inspired by motorcycle tailpipes, while the floor console mirrors the seat of a bike.
All winning designs for GOOD DESIGN 2011 can be viewed at the Museum's website: www.chi-athenaeum.org. All products and graphics will be exhibited at The Chicago Athenaeum in the GOOD DESIGN Show for 2011 in Chicago in June, 2012.

We would like to thank this happy customer for their loyalty and recommendation
"This is the 2nd vehicle I purchased from O'Hare Hyundai. I bought a new 2011 Sonata in March of 2011. We like the car and decided to buy another Sonata for our family. So, just prior to the Holiday Season we were interested in purchasing a 2012. We were quite busy planning for the holidays and our 2 college students just returned home for their winter break. Since time was hard to come by, I decided to try and deal on-line. Gina from internet sales was great to deal with. She understood what I was looking for and would always respond to my messages quickly. Oftentimes within minutes. After arriving at a price I was willing to pay, and a Sonata GLS equipped the way we wanted we went to O'Hare to buy the vehicle and dealt with Keith Burgess on the sales floor. He was very willing to help us and good at explaining the process and the paperwork we had to deal with. The negotiations were already finished so it was just a matter of finalizing the deal. We then dealt with Keith once again a couple of days later when we returned to have a remote starter installed. Vince, in service took charge and by the end of the day he was demonstrating to us how to use our remote starter. I would not have returned to this dealer to buy a 2nd car if I wasn't happy with the first Sonata and all the people I had to deal with. I would strongly recommend this dealer. With 2 cars from O'Hare Hyundai I am sure I will be dealing with them for quite some time."

HYUNDAI SONATA LEADS THE COMPETITION WITH BEST FUEL ECONOMY IN THE EPA LARGE CAR SEGMENT
Hyundai Sonata, the popular sedan offering class-above interior volume compared with its key competitors, also provides the best fuel economy in the EPA Large Car segment with an exceptional 28 mpg combined fuel economy rating.
Sonata interior volume is a generous 120.2 cubic feet, placing it in the EPA Large Car segment, where most of its competitors offer significantly lower combined fuel economy ratings.

EPA Combined fuel economy rating (mpg) | 28 | 22 | 23 | 23 | 22 | 27 | 23 |
Even among traditionally recognized mid-sized segment competitors, Sonata offers unsurpassed fuel economy.

“In developing the made-in-USA Sonata for mid-size sedan consumers, Hyundai engineers continually sought to exceed their expectations,” said Mike O’Brien, Hyundai’s vice president of corporate and strategic planning. “This meant overcoming the traditional compromises that face product development engineers, such as providing comfortable interior roominess coupled with powerful engines and exceptional fuel economy.”
Sonata’s large-car level of interior roominess, combined with fuel economy leadership, proves that manufacturers must continually challenge conventional thinking to delight their customers in new ways. This year, it’s clear that consumers have responded to Hyundai’s development team efforts with Sonata selling more than 200,000 Sonatas for the first time ever.
REAL-WORLD FUEL ECONOMY SATISFACTION
Not only does Sonata excel in government tests with exceptional combined fuel economy ratings, it also proves its efficiency in the day-to-day driving of its owners. In the 2011 J.D. Power APEAL satisfaction study, Sonata had the highest owner-reported satisfaction levels of its mid-size and large sedan competitors, with 30 percent of its owners rating its fuel economy the top rank of “truly exceptional.”

Bloomberg Names Hyundai Veloster Its Best Economy Car
The all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster earned the title of “Best Economy Car” in Bloomberg’s recent “Best Drives of 2011.” The Veloster is an innovative compact coupe that features ground-breaking design, with a unique third door for easy rear-seat access, Hyundai’s Blue Link® telematics system, Pandora® internet radio with seven-inch touch-screen display and a new 1.6-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine that can be mated to either Hyundai’s first EcoShift™ dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The Veloster is also one of four Hyundai vehicles that achieve 40 mpg on the highway, along with the Accent, Elantra and Sonata Hybrid.
In the third annual roundup of the year’s best vehicles compiled by Bloomberg,
Veloster drew praise from the editors for “amenities like touch-screen navigation, automatic everything, Bluetooth and a rear-view camera.”
“Hyundai has four models which hit the 40 mpg mark, only one a hybrid. That’s progress for the people,” said Jason Harper, Bloomberg’s auto critic. “Most of us want a nice-driving, good-looking automobile that won’t sledgehammer us into debt. Hyundai has gotten in the habit of over-delivering very good cars at underwhelming prices. The Veloster is the most out-and-out fun.”
Joining the Veloster as “Best Drives of 2011” are the Range Rover Evoque, the Lamborghini Aventador, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and the Overall 2011 Winner, the Audi A7.
As expected for the winner of the “Best Economy Car” segment, the Veloster combines its dynamic design, wealth of technology and outstanding fuel efficiency with great value — The Veloster starts at $17,300 (plus freight).
“We recognize that Bloomberg’s reporters and readers are among the most financially savvy and astute car buyers in the world,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “With this in mind, it’s a tremendous honor that the publication appreciates all of the Veloster’s outstanding qualities in the compact coupe segment, from the telematics’ benefits of Blue Link™ to a fun, yet fuel-efficient 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that yields outstanding fuel economy, combined with an affordable sticker price.”

Andrea, thank you so much for this recommendation. We are happy to have helped you.
"WOW what an experience. I went to O'Hare Hyundai looking for a used Elantra that I saw online. I was met by Keith Burgess, he was the professional sales person I wish I would have met before I bought my last car. He listened to my needs, showed me the car I wanted to see then showed me one that fit my wants better! We went for several test drives, he was patient. I was not interested in purchasing that night, however I drove home in my new car. I have suggested all of my friends and family go see Keith when they are ready for a new car. Everyone at O'Hare Hyundai worked to make my visit exceptional. Thank you!"

Hyundai’s 2012 Tucson named as Kelley Blue Book top resale value pick
Hyundai’s 2012 Tucson CUV has been placed on Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Award’s Top 10 list. The automotive-information resource reserves this list for vehicles expected to best retain their value over the next five years.
"Hyundai's year-over-year gain in average residual value of 4.5 percentage points was one of the best in the industry," said Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book. … “Among this year's top 10 model winners, the Hyundai Tucson is holding its value exceedingly well, gaining more than 10 percentage points from last year with a 60-month residual value of 45.3 percent. With Hyundai's improvements in styling and performance that results in more consumers shopping for Hyundai vehicles, this brand is clearly one to watch."Depreciation is generally a car owner’s primary expense. Kelley Blue Book’s annual Best Resale Value Awards are designed to help buyers make informed decisions with this in mind."The Tucson does an excellent job of artfully combining state-of-the-art safety features, design and affordability, allowing it to retain a high value throughout the course of ownership," said Mike O'Brien, vice president of product and corporate planning for Hyundai Motor America. "Hyundai is proud to offer its Trade-In Value Guarantee as part of Hyundai Assurance, and this program is made possible due to the strength of Hyundai vehicles' residual values, like the Tucson."The carmaker’s Trade-In Value Guarantee is intended to eliminate concern about depreciation by guaranteeing value for vehicles between 24 and 48 months of ownership.

2012 Hyundai Veloster Honored for Its Style by eCityofStyle

The 2012 Veloster, a unique, three-door coupe, marks the second consecutive year the Korean manufacturer has won an award. The Hyundai Equus, the brand's halo vehicle, was the recipient of an auto style award for the 2011 model year.
“Gone are the days of Hyundai's budget car status. Today, the Korean automaker is a legitimate threat to the establishment, designing cars that look considerably more expensive than they really are,” said eCityofStyle editors in a news release. “The Veloster is perhaps Hyundai's most successful execution of its new design language, called Fluidic Sculpture. From the tight front end to the sculpted side creases to the powerful wheel arches, the Veloster's exterior is both aggressive and sleek.”
eCityofStyle.com and eCityofTravel.com are for fashion-conscious consumers and discerning travelers. eCityofStyle.com informs readers about the latest fashion and design trends in a user-friendly format that is organized in easy-to-navigate sections such as Her, Him, Home, Life, Auto and Xtra (a special feature & celebrity-driven events section).
“With Veloster, we want to show consumers that high style and reasonable pricing can go hand in hand,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Veloster stands out from the crowd with a stylish yet functional design. We’re honored that eCityofStyle is recognizing the beautiful design and unique personality of the car.”

Russ, thank you for your kind words. We are happy to have helped you.
"My car was on it's last leg and the repair costs outweighed its remaining value. Now, I dread going shopping for a new car because of the haggling involved over the price and financing, however I couldn't be more pleased at the experience I had with O'Hare Hyundai. My twin brother and I were looking for the same car...A Hyundai Elantra (Limited). When we arrived at O'Hare Hyundai we were greeted by Bob Gold as we checked out the inventory on the lot. Bob was amazing! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable instantly. He took the time to explain every detail of the car from bumper to bumper and I never felt rushed or pressured. His courteous and helpful attitude made my animosity about buying a new car just melt away! Dan Chatfield made the finance part of the experience go very smoothly. He was willing to work with us in order to make sure everyone was happy with the deal. I couldn't be happier with how we were treated. Needless to say, my brother and I are now proud owners of brand new 2012 Elantras. Mine in silver, his in grey. From start to finish...a wonderful experience! Thanks!
Sincerely,Russ"

Hyundai Elantra Wins ALG Residual Value Award for Second Year in a Row
Hyundai announced that the 2012 Elantra has received a Residual Value Award from ALG in the Compact Car segment. ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data, annually recognizes automakers' outstanding achievements in producing new vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period. Awards are given in 19 vehicle categories. This year's awards are based on 2012 model year vehicles.
"The Elantra's eye-catching sporty profile and upscale interior, combined with Hyundai's increasing image of quality, earn the model its second consecutive win in the Compact Car segment," said Raj Sundaram, ALG. "High demand and minimal incentives also help it nab the top spot."
Award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing and marketing strategies remain the key factors that affect ALG's residual value forecasts.
"Hyundai's Elantra stands out in the competitive compact segment, offering innovation, content, style, and 40 mpg highway standard fuel economy," said Mike O'Brien, vice president, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "Strong residual value is an important element in Hyundai's overall value equation, reducing the overall cost of ownership and allowing us to offer customers the Hyundai Assurance Trade-In Value Guarantee."
The Trade-In Value Guarantee is the newest addition to the Hyundai Assurance suite of programs. It eliminates concern about depreciation by giving Hyundai owners a guaranteed value for their vehicle in months 24 through 48 of ownership.
The 2012 Elantra sets the bar in the compact sedan category offering a "class-above" midsize car interior volume, modern design, outstanding fuel economy, and loads of comfort and convenience features, all at an attractive starting price. Elantra also delivers standard advanced safety technologies including a new Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system to optimally manage Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS).

Darren and Dan, thank you for providing the best in customer service. Great job!
"This car purchase has been one of the smoothest transitions I have experienced, thanks to Darren Conwell, the Sales Representative at Ohare Hyundai dealership (in DesPlaines, IL), and Dan Chatfield, the Finance Officer who led me through the financial arrangements, explained the extended warranty, accepted my Pontiac GrandAm for trade-in, and practically gift-wrapped my new car.
At the onset, I researched Hyundai’s 2012 Elantra on the internet, checked Consumer Reports ratings, & planned several strategies for comparing the 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS and the 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited; then, as a COSTCO card member, I went to the COSTCO website, identifying the car I was interested in purchasing: the make, model & year, along with my zip code. Immediately, I was given both an authorization number for purchasing a car at Ohare Hyundai, and also the name of the salesperson who would assist me in making a car purchase.
I received several carefully orchestrated calls & emails from Darren Conwell to see where I was in the process of selecting a new car. We exchanged a few emails; I needed time to think clearly & Darren encouraged me to do just that.
So, about 10 days after my inquiry at the COSTCO website, I phoned Ohare Hyundai and set up my appointment for Wednesday, the next day, with Darren Conwell. The next day, I met him for the first time; it was easy to recognize he is highly motivated, as he was neatly dressed, wearing a bright colored shirt & an enthusiastic smile. At all times, his demeanor was pleasant, courteous, & thoughtful.
I knew I was at the right dealership, & by three hours later, I had test driven one of the two cars he selected from the inventory. While I had to leave for some other personal business, I returned several hours later, “to finish the process”.
In the next three hours, Darren went over the “owner’s quick guide”, the warranty program, additional arrangements, & the pricing on various add-ons (I chose the paint seal), as well as the paperwork, reviewed any yet to be resolved issues & answered any remaining questions from me. He introduced me to Dan Chatfield, the Financial Officer, whose responsibility it was to clarify any extended warranty offers, explain the Hyundai Assurance plan that quotes the buy-back value of the car down the line, let’s say, in 5 years. Dan knows his responsibility & is careful & considerate in offering the customer the items that would make a perfect configuration.
Because I was using the COSTCO “no hassle-no haggle” approach, the buying process is simplified. Trading in my old car began with Darren and was authorized by Dan Chatfield. The only matter that needed completion for me was the “paint seal”, & they would take care of that the next day. Lastly, the financial arrangement on my part sealed the transaction. Dan Chatfield oversaw the state license transfer, & calculated all the taxes in the transaction, as well as the trade in of my Pontiac Grand Am.
As planned, I returned on Friday to accept delivery of my new “Blue Sky Hyundai Elantra as my personal celebration of my Mom’s 101st Birthday.
Friday morning came & Darren met me with his big smile; once again, he was dressed very business-like, wearing a grey, blue & white plaid sweater vest over a deep blue shirt, & dark trousers. Here’s a car salesman dressed to send one customer home with a new car, & yet, ready for another client.
For a couple hours, Darren Conwell reviewed the driver’s manual & guide, removed the license plates from the old car & re-attached them to my new car, checked for any dust & dings, made sure I left with a full tank of gas, & bid me “happy driving” ..
In the past week (of ownership), I have had 5 phone calls from Hyundai employees at the dealership & the corporate office “thanking me for my business”.
This is one special Hyundai car dealership with special people in sales:
Darren Conwell & Dan Chatfield!"

Hyundai Contributes More Than $7 Billion to National Economy
The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) in partnership with Hyundai Motor America today announced the findings of a study quantifying – for the first time – the automaker’s impact on the U.S. economy. Conducted by CAR’s Sustainability and Economic Development Strategies group and commissioned by Hyundai, the economic impact study finds that Hyundai’s U.S. operations and dealerships have contributed more than 94,000 private sector jobs and in excess of $7 billion to the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2011. Included in the analysis were Hyundai’s manufacturing and supplier, research and development, engineering, headquarters and dealership operations, among others.
“The importance of this study is directly related to the importance of foreign direct investment and operations in the sustainability of the overall automotive industry in the U.S.,” said Kim Hill, director of the Sustainability and Economic Strategies group at CAR, and the study’s lead. “While the domestic auto industry restructured and contracted in recent years, international manufacturers have continued to expand their U.S. operations. Hyundai’s growth, and the expansion of its product development and manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., has outpaced the industry and other major manufacturers. When taken together with its sister company Kia, Hyundai accounts for more than one-third of the South Korean direct investment and capital spending in the U.S.”
According to the study, of the total 94,000 jobs created by Hyundai, approximately one-third – or 33,000 – is supported by the automaker’s direct employment in its manufacturing-related activities in the U.S. Associated wages and salaries are estimated at $2.4 billion. Hyundai’s dealerships support the remaining 61,000 jobs, with associated wages and benefits estimated at $3.5 billion.
“The study confirms that Hyundai’s expanding U.S. operations are creating and retaining jobs, thereby having a significant impact on the country’s economy,” said Hill. “U.S. auto industry jobs that are related to Hyundai tend to be very well compensated, leading to higher than average household spending and tax payments impacts.”
Key findings of the report include:
Industry
- Over the past two decades, the U.S. automotive industry has been transformed by billions in new direct investments domestically as well as from Asia and Europe. Much of the foreign direct investment has gone to areas of the country that were not traditional locations for automotive employment, in effect, stretching the footprint of the U.S. auto industry.
- Hyundai’s operations are a significant contributor to those states in which the company operates a number of facilities, notably its headquarters operations in California, automotive manufacturing in Alabama, and research and development in Michigan.
Earnings and Employment
- By choosing to sell and produce in the U.S. market, Hyundai has created jobs not only at its own facilities, but supports jobs across the automotive industry, extending into nearly every community in the nation.
- Hyundai’s U.S. operations contribute a total of 94,391 private sector jobs, with $5.9 billion in annual wages and salaries.
-
- Of the total 94,391 jobs, 33,313 are supported by employment in Hyundai’s U.S. manufacturing-related activities, with associated wages and salaries estimated at $2.4 billion. Hyundai’s dealerships in the U.S. support the remaining 61,078 private sector jobs, with associated wages and salaries of approximately $3.5 billion.
- Of the 33,313 jobs supported by employment in Hyundai’s U.S. manufacturing-related activities, Hyundai directly employs 4,116 employees and 1,083 Hyundai affiliate partner employees, for a total of 5,199 direct jobs. Hyundai’s direct employment supports an additional 9,074 intermediate jobs and 19,040 spin-off jobs, which are associated with spending by the people who work in Hyundai’s direct and intermediate jobs.
- Of the 61,078 total dealership jobs, 27,938 are new vehicle dealer employees, while 10,641 jobs are associated with suppliers to the Hyundai dealerships. An additional 22,499 spin-off jobs are a result of the spending by employees who work at direct and intermediate dealership jobs.
- The ratio of total jobs created to direct employment by Hyundai yields an employment multiplier of 6.4, meaning there are 5.4 additional jobs in the U.S. economy for every one job in Hyundai’s automotive manufacturing operations.
- The ratio of total jobs created to direct employment in Hyundai dealership operations is 2.2, meaning there are 1.2 additional jobs in the U.S. economy for every one job in Hyundai’s dealership operations.
Investment and Purchasing
- Hyundai, though a relatively new entrant into U.S. manufacturing, has already made substantial investments in its U.S. manufacturing infrastructure. Over the past decade, Hyundai, together with Kia, has invested nearly $3 billion at two assembly sites. These investments include construction of two assembly plants, as well as expansions at both facilities, including $443 million for engine plant expansions at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama.
- Hyundai has invested in numerous R&D, design and technical centers, service parts distribution operations, administrative operations, logistics centers and a U.S. proving ground.
- Hyundai’s expenditures on domestically-produced materials, parts and components to supply its automotive manufacturing facilities exceeded $8 billion in 2010.
“Hyundai is proud of our American success story, and of what our growth and job creation have meant to the U.S. economy, automotive industry and American automotive workers,” said John Krafcik, president and chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor America. “With the majority of vehicles Hyundai sells in the U.S. now produced here, we are primed for continued investment and employment in the U.S.”

Hyundai Busts Out With Engine Upgrades
Hyundai Motor America already can't keep much of anything on its dealer lots for more than a few days, but the surging South Korean automaker is blasting off with a raft of major engine upgrades for its existing models that not only hike the horsepower game but generally deliver better fuel economy, too. Coupe lovers move to the front of the line, as much of the action (at least that we're allowed to talk about so far) centers on the sporty corner of Hyundai's busy showrooms.
At a media event here last week to detail the power plant upgrades, Hyundai officials said the company isn't letting up on its emphasis on engines that help vehicles achieve a 40-mpg highway rating (Hyundai claims the most in the industry), but said there's still plenty of engineering ability to improve fuel economy — or keep it the same — while squeezing out more power. Case in point is the new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.8-liter V6 for the 2013 Genesis Coupe. At an event in Korea today, Hyundai confirmed a 30-percent power upgrade for the 2.0-liter turbo, taking it to 275 horsepower (or a little less in U.S.-spec rating) from today's 210 horses, while EPA fuel economy ratings are expected to stay the same.
For the Genesis Coupe's 3.8-liter V6, power is leaping from the current 283 hp to 350, largely thanks to the addition of direct fuel injection and other design upgrades, while fuel economy remains effectively unchanged. The Genesis Coupe V6 upgrades effectively mirror those Hyundai's already detailed for the 2012 Genesis sedan, but credit some of the Coupe's efficiency gains to a new eight-speed gearset for autobox cars.
Meanwhile, Hyundai executives also spoke again about the 2012 Veloster three-door coupe offering a turbocharged variant of the car's 1.6-liter "Gamma" four-cylinder. The rip, though, is that the company still won't be specific about exact horsepower and torque ratings. The compression ratio drops from 11:1 to 9.4:1 for the turbo, which uses a twin-scroll turbine to minimize turbo lag, and one Hyundai executive said it's logical to assume the turbo Gamma will be endowed with markedly more than 100 hp per liter. The Veloster's normally aspirated 1.6-liter job makes 138 horses, so our guess for the Veloster turbo is an output in the range of 175-180 hp. Hyundai sources admit the conventional Veloster is a lukewarm performer, so the turbo engine definitely is required equipment to bump the edgy coupe's street cred.
The company also showed a coupe version of the silly-popular Elantra compact car, which seems to emphasize the Elantra's signature sharp body side crease. That car will first be unveiled to the public at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show in February, while president and CEO John Krafcik also said there will be a five-door Elantra variant, too, although it's not decided if the car will carry the previous-generation five-door Elantra's "Touring" name. Don't expect any performance differentiation for the Elantra coupe, Krafcik contends. At least not at first. But given the freedom with which Hyundai's bolting on turbochargers and optimizing other engines for fuel economy, don't rule out some sort of Honda Civic Si-baiting upgrade for the popular Elantra in the near future.

Vince and Keith, thank you for continuing to provide 100 percent customer satisfaction.
"On my third Santa Fe from O'Hare Hyundai. I have based my purchasing decisions on logistics, and the excellent service I have received from Vince in the service department, the rating and quality of the vehicle as well as the value for the price. The last two purchases went very well, this latest was very pleasurable because of the manner in which Keith handled the sale.
I highly recommend a visit to this dealership. They have set the bar for sales and service."

Hyundai Confirms 204-HP Veloster Turbo Will Debut In Detroit
After much speculation, Hyundai CEO John Krafcik has confirmed that there is, in fact, a turbocharged version of the Veloster hatchback in the works. The turbocharged hatchback will make its debut this upcoming January at the 2012 Detroit auto show.
Krafcik confirmed the hot hatch last night while at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and – as he often does – sent a tweet to Hyundai’s Twitter feed announcing the car's debut in Detroit. That’s ironic, considering the company used the same account last week to downplay the possibility of a turbo Veloster.
We already knew that this car was coming, and even have a good idea of what will power the veloce Veloster. Just two weeks ago, the automaker took the wraps off of a turbocharged version of the 1.6-liter Gamma inline-four cylinder that is in the current Veloster. That new turbo mill should be good for around 204 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, which is a significant improvement over the 138 hp and 123 lb-ft produced by the of the naturally aspirated engine.
Just as with the rest of its competitors, we expect that the Veloster Turbo will send all of its power through the front wheels. Expect transmission options to mirror those of the base Veloster, with either a six-speed manual or Hyundai’s all-new six-speed dual-clutch. No word yet on whether or not the more powerful engine will affect the Veloster’s 40 mpg highway rating, but don’t be surprised if those figures decrease slightly.
With 204 hp, the Veloster Turbo will sit mid-pack along with other hot hatches. It will best the Mini Cooper S (181 hp), the Volkswagen GTI 200 hp), and the Honda Civic Si (201 hp), although it won’tbe quite as powerful as the Mazdaspeed3 (263 hp) and Subaru WRX (265 hp).

Nancy, thank you for sharing your experience. We are honored to have you as a customer.
"I live in Las Vegas and had been to a LV Hyundai dealership with very disappointing results. I was interested in the Sonata Hybrid which they did not have, and I asked if they could let me know when one was available. Six months later, I have never heard back from the sales person! My son, who had leased his Sonata from O'Hare Hyundai, said that when I was visiting in October we had to "see Mary" when I was in town. His experience at O'Hare Hyundai had been so positive, he not only recommended the dealership to me, but also our good family friend.
We all made an appointment with Mary Rycerz who juggled both of us nicely, with the resulting sales of a second Hyundai to my friend and the Sonata Hybrid for me. The process was smooth, upfront and actually pleasant. The delivery of the car was quite remarkable in that Mary handled the details efficiently, Dan Chatfield gave the financials in a clear, easy to understand manner, and Bob Gold did an outstanding job of explaining all the bells and whistles of the Hybrid. Everyone I met there was friendly, personable, straightforward, polite and seemed to genuinely want this experience to be positive. From the first greetings to the follow up thank you calls I feel this dealership takes the literal pain out of buying a car! I was comfortable throughout the process and absolutely delighted with my new car. I am so happy to have bought the car there than to have to deal with a dealership in Las Vegas.
Thank you to all the folks at O'Hare Hyundai!"

Hyundai Maintains No. 1 Spot for Brand Loyalty on Kbb.com for Second Consecutive Quarter
Kelley Blue Book's www.kbb.com, the leading provider of new car and used car information, today reports that Hyundai upheld its No. 1 spot for brand loyalty on kbb.com for Q3 2011, marking its second consecutive quarter on top.
For Q3 2011, Hyundai's brand loyalty was at 48 percent, with Toyota nearly closing in at 47.9 percent and Subaru at 45.9 percent. Rounding out the top-five brands for Q3 2011 are Kia in the fourth spot at 45.3 percent and Ford in fifth at 45.2 percent.
While Hyundai continues its lead in brand loyalty, it dropped 4.4 percentage points from the previous quarter. Hyundai's decline can be attributed to cooled interest in the Sonata and Elantra models.
For the first time since Kelley Blue Book began tracking loyalty, Honda is outside the top-five brands, sitting in the sixth spot at 44.2 percent. Honda's dip in loyalty is the result of lukewarm reception of the 2012 Civic. In addition, Honda's perceived supply issues also have influenced shopper activity in Q3 2011. As year-end approaches, brand loyalty slowly begins to rise. While the majority of automakers still show declines in year-over-year loyalty, a quarter-over-quarter shift into the black reveals that consumers may be taking notice of seasonal blowout deals and loyalty incentive offers. Manufacturers also have released the majority of their 2012 models; therefore consumers' shopping choices may narrow as they become familiar with the options available in the marketplace.
"The latter half of the year tends to draw interest toward sport utility, crossover and other large vehicles due to weather conditions and seasonality," said Arthur Henry, market intelligence manager for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. "Since Hyundai's flagship vehicles are its compact and mid-size sedans, it is natural that it suffers in this regard."
Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence examines brand loyalty while consumers are still in the shopping phase. For this analysis, loyalty is defined as owners of the brand who are currently shopping the same brand for their next vehicle. This includes data from consumers who view a trade-in page or private party page in addition to a new-car page on Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com.

Bob and Dan, thank you for helping us offer the best in customer service. We appreciate your hard work.
"I purchased my first Hyundai yesterday. Did a lot of online research, Hyundai, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and VW. Hyundai had the best price, best warranty and best safety record. I had a wonderful sales man-Bob Gold. He explained the pros/cons of Sonata v. Tuscon. I landed on the Tuscon, took for a test drive and that was it. Bob, walked me through all of the options which at first were quite intimidating. He took a lot of time explaining and showing everything to me. I previously owned 2 VWs and they didn't explain anything to me, gave me the keys and I had to learn everything myself. Dealership is state of the art, all personnel are very friendly. I like that when you buy the car, they ring a bell and everyone claps. Additionally, can't tell you how many of the associates came over and introduced themselves as well as offering congratulations. Dan was also very helpful explaining the terms of the contract and what I needed to do in updating my city sticker, IPASS and auto insurance. I love my new car, can't believe all of the perks that come along with owning a Hyundai. They believe in their product and their service which is refreshing."

Chris, thank you so much for your recommendation. Welcome to the O'Hare Hyundai family!
"I have never purchased a Hyundai before and was referred to Ray Reynolds at O'Hare Hyundai. While there, I was taken for a test drive by Darren Conwell who expertly pointed out the facets of the Sonata GLS and SE. Ray guided us through the purchasing process and was honest and genuine about making sure my wife and I had a good car-buying experience. Upon selecting the SE, Ray and Darren expediated the process and explaned the electronics and keyless entry - neither of which we had prior experience with. In the finance department, Dan Chatfield made sure we understood the financing and the warranty. I would definitely recommend buying a car at O'Hare Hyundai."

We would like to thank Keith for another job well-done. Great work!
"This dealership made me feel extremely comfortable looking at new and used cars to purchase. The atmosphere was pleasant and not pushy. Keith worked with me in every detail of getting a car. He broke down the dollar amount with taxes, title, transfer, dock fees, and trade! He broke it all down and was able to get me the exact car that I wanted at the price that I wanted. He was very a friendly, genuinely nice, family guy and not typical sales guy that I have met many times over. Usually when the sales guy approaches my chest gets tight and I feel totally uncomfortable, and I just want to leave. It did at first but when I told him I would let him know if I had questions he let me be and I went back to him when I was ready. He never once made it like I had to buy today, he just worked with me and answered questions and I made the decision as it should be. It was a very pleasant experience. I should say the best car purchase experience that I have ever had. Even the big manager got involved in looking for the perfect vehicle for me and the finance guy (Sam) went over every detail in he end. They all worked really hard together to get me what I wanted and I am happy I went here to get my car and no other dealership. Thanks O'Hare Hyundai...you are awesome! And Keith is the best!"

Kudos to our staff for providing 100 percent customer satisfaction.
"Bob Gold was great. Sincere, professional, very friendly, and easy to work with.
I truly appreciate all of the time he spent going over everything. He showed me how to operate, and explained, every single control. We reviewed all of the features and he gave me additional information on those that I wasn't very familiar with. I don't feel that anything was left out, or that I was rushed through anything. Dan, the finance manager, worked with me to ensure that I walked out of the dealership with a new vehicle. The part that I found the most considerate was that while he explained all of my options, he didn't try to harangue me into add-ons that I didn't want. I had a very positive experience, and won't hesitate to recommend O'Hare Hyundai in the future."Monday, October 3, 2011

Hyundai Veloster not your average, boring ride

Hyundai’s new telematics system is called BlueLink and most would compare it to OnStar. Like GM’s service it doesn’t require your cell phone for service. Blue Link adds features like voice text messaging plus a “geo fence” sends you a text if the person you’ve loaned your car to has driven it somewhere you’ve flagged as off limits. Cue up the daughter/shopping mall jokes. Blue Link comes with a free trial period. After that, service starts at $79 a year climbing to $279 if you want to request directions to your destination. About That Back Door Remember, it’s only on the passenger side and with cupholders molded into the center position Veloster is a four-seater. Legroom is fine in the rear even with someone sitting up front and there’s just enough headroom for my average size frame. The hatch’s glass extends over the passenger’s head so they’re looking at the lip where the window joins the headliner. Considering the glass offers no padding, tall folks in back won’t want the driver to hit any big bumps. There’s one seat pocket and no 12v power port. Sorry folks, no TP trunk test this week since I’m at a press event. Eyeballing it I’d say it’s a five-pack space, the useful hatchback design has more room than you’d expect in a smaller vehicle. In size Veloster sort of slots in between the 2-passenger Honda CR-Z hybrid and the Scion tC. A gripe? No spare tire, only a repair kit. This seems to be the future folks. Easy To Buy Appealing to the Scion demographic, Hyundai is not trying to emulate that buying experience. There are only 6 ways to buy Veloster, meaning three different packages and the two transmissions. Then choose from nine colors. That’s pretty much it. Limiting build combinations helps to keep the costs down. Veloster might not be fast and certainly not for the Camry crowd but it is loaded with tech, innovation and personality. For years enthusiasts on a budget have pined away for a new Honda CR-X. Here it is gang, it just has a back seat and a Hyundai badge. Is the third door a gimmick? If it is it’s well done. Veloster opens the doors to fun and frugal driving.

"Yes. They responded to our internet inquiry promptly. They were friendly when we came in to look at and test drive the vehicle we were thinking of purchasing. When we decided to make the purchase, they offered us a fair price. The paperwork was explained and completed relatively quickly and painlessly. They even stayed past closing time so that we could leave with our vehicle that evening. And they have contacted us more than once to make sure that we are satisfied with our purchase."

"I brought my Sonata in to this dealership to have an oil change. I was greeted by Vince who was both friendly and professional. Vince, thank you for your hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction.
"I came in and spoke to Vince regarding issues I was having with my car. He was very helpful and solved all my problems. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone and especially VINCE for his prompt honest customer service."
"I came in looking for a used vehicle, and vince rotella was there promp to help me. I told him my story and how my credit was a little low! Unlike most dealers vince did not try and push me out the door!! He talked to me about used cars and being a first time car owner and things as such. Never in my life have i felt so eased and pleased. I want to thank Vince Rotella for all the help he provided for me. Such great customer service, well dressed and finally I found someone who knew what they were talking about. Thank you Vince Rotella."
"We purchased a used car for our son's graduation in June. From the beginning it had a rattle in the rear end. We brought it in last week and spoke to Vince. He said that he would walk it through the process and figure out what the problem was. He called us three times to let us know what was going on. When we went in to pick up the car, he told us that he found out that there was a recall on the problem and it would not cost us a cent. His attitude and commitment to servicing the customer should be commended. We will definitely be bringing our car to Vince for all our repair and maintenance needs."
"We purchased two Hyundai vehicles in 2004. We are so pleased we chose to purchase from O'Hare Hyundai because of the Service Department. The personnel are a friendly, professional and service oriented team of individuals.
We generally work with Vince Rotella, who is outstanding, but we have worked with other Service Advisors as well. They work as a team with the Parts Department and the Mechanics to keep our cars serviced and running efficiently. Not only would we consider purchasing from Hyundai again but when we do it will be from O'Hare Hyundai because of its professional Service Department. We feel that O'Hare Hyundai's Service Department provides years of consistent professional service and maintenance to keep our vehicles running."
